Keep Your Child Alive & Homeschool

One of our own, Ron Kemp, at RonKempMusic, writes a very inspiring, powerful post about the death of thirteen year old boy, Paul Hauan, due to bullying. I wanted to follow up on his post by sharing my thoughts on this increasing problem in our public school system and what we can do about it.

Many parents are struggling financially now and cannot afford to send their children to a private school, as the public school system is no longer necessarily a viable option. We’ve seen increasing problems with violent bullying and child suicide due to the bullying. School shootings are becoming more and more common place, making public school anything but a safe place to learn.

What can today’s parents do now to address these problems when the school system won’t? Having a thirteen year old daughter, whom I love more than anything but God Himself, I’ve had to think on this matter in depth. I’ve come to a conclusion on this thing that has finally allowed me to be at peace.

My child has come home from school too many times upset, stressed out, and bitterly unhappy due to cruel peers who pick on her for a variety of ridiculous reasons. I’ve counseled her and we’ve handled it up to now, in that it has not become what I would call a severe problem thus far, yet. I say “yet” because I recognize that there may come a time when it will become a serious issue.

Thankfully, I’ve done the research and have discovered that there is a “homeschooling” option that allows any parent to homeschool their children on the computer at their leisure and no one can do anything about it, should they disapprove. As long as one is legitimately schooling their child through a home schooling program via the computer, textbooks, hand-outs, etc., no one can legally take away this option from us.

Of course, there are those who would love to see parents forced to stop home schooling their children. I think these perspectives lie on the more liberal side of the political aisle, unfortunately, but they are not making much headway in doing away with our homeschooling options so far, and I thank God for that. I think it’s the more anti-theist, anti-religious points of view that pushe this notion because in the past it has often been Christian parents who opt to home school; there are those who dislike Christians exposing their children to their faith. Strangely enough though, because of the violence and bullying going on in so many public schools, even secularist parents are beginning to consider the home school option and well they should!

If your child is seriously stressed to the breaking point due to the public school curriculum, serious bullying and mistreatment, or the threat of another school shooting, don’t wait until something terrible happens. Don’t wait for the child to kill himself or become another school shooting statistic. Take him out of the public school system, and educate him and prepare him for college at home via the computer or one of the many good home school programs available.

I know I’m going to do this very thing if things don’t improve for my child in our public school system. I am not going to wait until my child has killed herself or someone has assaulted her before I act in her best interest. There is nothing more important than my child’s life, well-being, and happiness. Parents today have to recognize the reality of the violent, radical world we now live in.

We can’t wait until state or federal law changes and something happens to change what’s going on out here in our public schools. We have to have other options open to us now and homeschooling is sincerely a good one, in my opinion.

Spiritual Growth

For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus. – Philippians 1:6

I saw honest to goodness change in myself tonight…

I was reading on the internet and came upon something that in the past would have stirred me into an irate frenzy. I would have felt the need to jump in and involve myself in a lot of foolishness that really has no point to it. In the past, this was almost a foregone conclusion.

Tonight as I read, it was as if I was emotionally disconnected and could see the situation for what it was; something not to waste precious energy even acknowledging — I’m just so beyond it. It’s not something God wants me to be part of anymore.

I instinctively sensed this and didn’t even feel a pull toward questionable action, as I have in the past. Then the words of the above verse went through my mind and I knew it was God speaking to my heart.

It’s just so exciting when God is working and changing precise aspects of us that will hinder our ministry and service to Him! I celebrate this promise from Him in the above scripture in Philippians. God will not leave us hanging. We really are born again in Him and slowly we become a new creature. The Lord is making me worthy in areas where I am weak and need His help.

Father, you are so good to me. I thank you.

Ain’t No Homo Gonna Make it to Heaven

I have to say that once again, I am incredibly ashamed to be associated by name with those who worship God, who would encourage a little child to express himself in this fashion, shown in this video.

I don’t say this to be politically correct by any means, because I don’t support gay marriage and am not a politically correct person; but as a Christian and a follower of Jesus Christ, we are to love everyone, including and not limited to those within the LGBT community.

This is sick and wrong. This does not show the loving, non-condemning side of Jesus Christ. This does not show the love of God. This is a “people-thing,” and is thus akin to gossip, hatred, strife, bickerings, and leading people away from our Lord.

Remember what God said about that….

But if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a large millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea. – Matthew 18:6

I’m afraid these unfortunate church-goers are going to have a lot to answer for when they stand before Jesus Christ our Lord.

An Indiana pastor is reportedly fielding death threats after footage surfaced of his congregation going wild for a tiny tot singing an anti-gay hymn. The clip went viral on Wednesday and features a young boy crooning a song about God and bible verses, including the lyrics, “Ain’t no homo gonna make it to heaven.”

Since it hit the blogosphere, the church, identified as the Apostolic Truth Tabernacle Church in Greensburg, Indiana, has received harassing phone calls, and its pastor, Jeff Sangl, has even gotten death threats at home, members told TMZ.com. The website reports the church is “on lockdown” and members are taking turns watching over the property. Sangl fears for his safety and he and his wife fled for vacation

Wednesday morning without telling anyone where they were going, one member told TMZ.com. Representatives of the church could not be reached for comment by the Daily News. Viewers online were jolted by the video — and by how young its star appears to be. Gawker writer Neetzan Zimmerman likened the video to child abuse. “What makes this particular demonstration of intolerance so shocking is just how young this congregant is. Believing him to be no older than five, some are calling the church’s treatment of the boy out-and-out child abuse.”

Others were appalled by the congregation’s overwhelmingly positive response to the performance. “Listen to the applause he’s getting for spouting hate!” wrote one commenter on YouTube. Author Anne Rice posted the video on her Facebook page, writing: “In this country, Christians can teach toddlers to hate and to persecute, and we, through the automatic tax exemption for churches, foot the bill.”

Despite the uproar and reported threats, church members told TMZ.com they don’t regret that the video surfaced online. “The people who are upset just don’t reach the word of God,” an unnamed member of the church told the website. “If we don’t teach the children the truth early they will never learn. “Of course we applauded a child who is singing a song about God.”

Bigger Bone Syndrome

Dog treats are special types of dog food given...

I like to reward my dogs with a variety of chewy treats, so I guess some might say that they are a little spoiled. At the cost of these canine delicacies, my animals are certainly being cared for with love. What I’ve noticed when I hand out the treats, though, is that each dog is initially oh-so-grateful and appreciative, but this doesn’t last too long.

Most of them will begin chewing vigorously, holding the bone, chew stick, or rawhide, between their paws eagerly. This usually lasts all of about three minutes and then pairs of little eyes begin angling about, looking slyly to the right and left to see who has what in his or her mouth. Before you know it, it’s like musical bones!

Treats formerly cherished are now abandoned in hopes that one’s next door neighbor will drop theirs, and they do, because they are doing the very same thing! That neighbor’s treat is then scooped up and carted off to a private corner where it can now be enjoyed in quiet bliss…that is, until this strange scenario happens all over again after about fifteen minutes or so.

As I watched this phenomenon take place, I began to correlate this with human behavior, noting that we do the very same thing in our lives! How many of us actually appreciate what we’ve got? How many times have we eyed another person’s wife, husband, family, car, home, children, clothes, body, job, wallet, looks, personality, or whatever, with great envy and desire? How often have we silently wondered how what we have stacks up to or compares with what others have? How often do we lust after what someone else has instead of being content and really happy with our own?
English: envy- 7 deadly sins

This “grass is always greener” scenario is fairly common for most human beings, I guess, but it is unfortunate. If we are never satisfied with our own home, wallet, family, children, clothes, lives…. we never really get to enjoy anything in the moment, do we? We’re always seeking that bigger bone. We can never just sit and be content and enjoy what we have. We want something that looks better than what we think we’ve got. Ours isn’t “good enough.” It doesn’t measure up. His or hers seems better. Suddenly, as we compare, what we have looks really pathetic and we can see the immeasurable flaws within it, making it all the more ugly or embarrassing.

There is something to be said for sincerely loving what we’ve got, flaws, imperfections, and all. Whether it be the people in our lives, our particular rag-tag batch of family members in all their imperfect glory, our little car with some age on it, or the standard three bedroom dwelling; why can we not simply love what and whom we’ve been gifted with in our lives and appreciate these for the gifts that they are? How many have so much less?

Nothing is by any means perfect in my life and a lot of people probably have better, but I love what I’ve got; I’m learning to love and appreciate the family and people in my life whom I’ve been gifted with, no matter how any of them compare to others. My life is as it is for a reason. I want to live every moment I have left in this life appreciating what God has given me. It really is good enough and I’m going to cherish all of it.

RFID Chips Added to TX Student ID’s

Students from San Antonio, Texas, in the Northside Independent School District will soon be tracked via chips implanted in their student ID cards.  These Radio Frequency Identification System (RFID) tags are becoming more and more common place.

I’m just wondering when we’ll be making the jump from inserting the chips into ID cards, to having them inserted directly into our right hand or forehead.  I see this as none too far away and an obvious next step toward government rising to full power over the American populace.

Some say this is conspiracy theory, others believe this is the infamous “mark of the beast” come to fruition.  Regardless of what you believe, it’s interesting that the bible warns us to beware.

16And he causes all, the small and the great, and the rich and the poor, and the free men and the slaves, to be given a mark on their right hand or on their forehead, 17and he provides that no one will be able to buy or to sell, except the one who has the mark, either the name of the beast or the number of his name. 18Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for the number is that of a man; and his number is six hundred and sixty-six. – Revelation 13:16

Northside Independent School District plans to track students next year on two of its campuses using technology implanted in their student identification cards in a trial that could eventually include all 112 of its schools and all of its nearly 100,000 students.

District officials said the Radio Frequency Identification System (RFID) tags would improve safety by allowing them to locate students — and count them more accurately at the beginning of the school day to help offset cuts in state funding, which is partly based on attendance.

Northside, the largest school district in Bexar County, plans to modify the ID cards next year for all students attending John Jay High School, Anson Jones Middle School and all special education students who ride district buses. That will add up to about 6,290 students.

The school board unanimously approved the program late Tuesday but, in a rarity for Northside trustees, they hotly debated it first, with some questioning it on privacy grounds.

State officials and national school safety experts said the technology was introduced in the past decade but has not been widely adopted. Northside’s deputy superintendent of administration, Brian Woods, who will take over as superintendent in July, defended the use of RFID chips at Tuesday’s meeting, comparing it to security cameras. He stressed that the program is only a pilot and not permanent.

Remaking Christianity II

Who are these modernist “progressive Christians” interested in remaking Christianity? We are currently looking at two people. The first is Bishop John Shelby Spong, and the second is Karen Armstrong.

Based upon a request from one of my regular commenters, (Joe), I thought I would find some interesting quotes from both Spong and Armstrong, thus allowing you, the reader, to digest their religious and spiritual views for yourselves. For traditional Christians who believe the bible, the perspectives held by Spong and Armstrong are going to be a bit of a shock.

Most certainly, these individuals do not believe in any kind of actual literal, or biblical interpretation of God, Jesus Christ, or the supernatural events that transpired within the bible. Both Spong and Armstrong are recreating Christianity through modified and “updated” versions of what Christianity should look like according to them, so that it can be brought into the 21st Century.

Spong attempts to “liberate the gospel,” in one of his more recent books, and by the time he finishes, I don’t see anything recognizably left of Christianity but the name. You’ll see what I mean, should you pick up a copy of his writing.

Needless to say, in my opinion, I think we’re seeing an example of the spirit of antichrist within pretty much everything that Spong and Armstrong offer us, but you be the judge of whether or not their interpretations of Christianity ring true for you.

Let’s look at Bishop John Shelby Spong first:

Bishop John Shelby Spong, Episcopal Diocese of...

“I do not believe that Jesus, at the end of his earthly sojourn, returned to God by ascending in any literal sense into a heaven located somewhere in the sky. My knowledge of the size of this universe reduces that concept to nonsense.” John Shelby Spong (Source: A New Christianity for a New World: Why Traditional Faith is Dying & How a New Faith is Being Born, Pages: 5,)

In our next quotes, Spong is obviously opposed to biblical literalism, the virgin birth, and the resurrection of Jesus Christ. He writes:

The best way to lose all is to cling with desperation to that which cannot possibly be sustained literally. Literalistic Christians will learn that a God or a faith system that has to be defended daily is finally no God or faith system at all. They will learn that any god who can be killed ought to be killed. Ultimately they will discover that all their claims to represent the historical, traditional, or biblical truth of Christianity cannot stop the advance of knowledge that will render every historic claim for a literal religious system questionable at best, null and void at worst. [Bishop John Shelby Spong, Episcopal (Anglican) Bishop of Newark, NY, in Resurrection: Myth or Reality? pg. 22]

Bishop Spong also apparently believes that prayer is akin to talking to Santa Clause. He wants Christians of the world to debate the following:

The following twelve “issues to which I now call the Christians of the world to debate are these,” according to Spong:

  1. Theism, as a way of defining God, is dead. So most theological God-talk is today meaningless. A new way to speak of God must be found.
  2. Since God can no longer be conceived in theistic terms, it becomes nonsensical to seek to understand Jesus as the incarnation of the theistic deity. So the Christology of the ages is bankrupt.
  3. The biblical story of the perfect and finished creation from which human beings fell into sin is pre-Darwinian mythology and post-Darwinian nonsense.
  4. The virgin birth, understood as literal biology, makes Christ’s divinity, as traditionally understood, impossible.
  5. The miracle stories of the New Testament can no longer be interpreted in a post-Newtonian world as supernatural events performed by an incarnate deity.
  6. The view of the cross as the sacrifice for the sins of the world is a barbarian idea based on primitive concepts of God and must be dismissed.
  7. Resurrection is an action of God. Jesus was raised into the meaning of God. It therefore cannot be a physical resuscitation occurring inside human history.
  8. The story of the Ascension assumed a three-tiered universe and is therefore not capable of being translated into the concepts of a post-Copernican space age.
  9. There is no external, objective, revealed standard writ in scripture or on tablets of stone that will govern our ethical behavior for all time.
  10. Prayer cannot be a request made to a theistic deity to act in human history in a particular way.
  11. The hope for life after death must be separated forever from the behavior control mentality of reward and punishment. The Church must abandon, therefore, its reliance on guilt as a motivator of behavior.
  12. All human beings bear God’s image and must be respected for what each person is. Therefore, no external description of one’s being, whether based on race, ethnicity, gender or sexual orientation, can properly be used as the basis for either rejection or discrimination.

http://www.liberator.net/articles/LiberatorMark/Spong.html

As I finish looking into Bishop Spong’s views, I’m so relieved to find that he has retired. Unfortunately, when we have a look at Karen Armstrong, we find many similarities. Let’s look at some of the quotations attributed to her:

Karen Armstrong:

Even though Paul and the evangelists all called Jesus ‘son of God,’ they were not making divine claims for him. They would have been quite shocked by this idea.” (p. 85)

“A God who kept tinkering with the universe was absurd; a God who interfered with human freedom and creativity was tyrant. If God is seen as a self in a world of his own, an ego that relates to a thought, a cause separate from its effect. he becomes a being, not Being itself. An omnipotent, all‐knowing tyrant is not so different from earthly dictators who make everything and everybody mere cogs in the machine which they controlled. An atheism that rejects such a God is amply justified.” ― Karen Armstrong

“The only way to show a true respect for God is to act morally while ignoring God’s existence.” ― Karen Armstrong, A History of God

“This was the scientific age, and people wanted to believe that their traditions were in line with the new era, but this was impossible if you thought that these myths should be understood literally. Hence the furore occasioned by The Origin of Species (1858), published by Charles Darwin (1809-82). The book was not intended as an attack on religion, but was a sober exploration of a scientific hypothesis. But because by this time people were reading the cosmogonies of Genesis as though they were factual, many Christians felt — and still feel — that the whole edifice of faith was in jeopardy. Creation stories had never been regarded as historically accurate; their purpose was therapeutic. But once you start reading Genesis as scientifically valid, you have bad science and bad religion.” – Karen Armstrong, A Short History of Myth

“I see the Christmas story and the deification of Jesus not as a statement of historical fact or an abstract religious doctrine. Like all religious teaching it is a call to action. When St Paul quotes that early Christian hymn in his letter to the Philippians (2:5-11), he was not giving his converts a lesson in the doctrine of the Incarnation. He was telling them how to behave.”

Karen Armstrong on the bible: “These myths were not intended to be taken literally, but were metaphorical attempts to describe a reality that was too complex and elusive to express any other way.”  – Karen Armstrong on “the bible.”

Remaking Christianity

Dear children, this is the last hour; and as you have heard that the antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come. This is how we know it is the last hour. – 1 John 2:18

Who is the liar? It is whoever denies that Jesus is the Christ. Such a person is the antichrist—denying the Father and the Son. -1 John 2:22

but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world. – 1 John 4:3

I say this because many deceivers, who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh, have gone out into the world. Any such person is the deceiver and the antichrist. – 2 John 1:7

Don’t be fooled.

We’re living in a time when everything that can be twisted and perverted, will be.
The enemy, Satan, sets up wolves in sheep’s clothing, also known as false prophets & teachers, in order to deceive even the very brethren of Jesus Christ. How can we recognize them?

There are those who would “update Christianity,” who conveniently decide to throw away what doesn’t appeal to their ears and minds. They deny the Incarnation – the divinity of Christ, the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ at the cross, and the Resurrection.

By doing away with these, they successfully “neuter” Christ and remove all of His power to save us from our sins and offer us eternal life. They turn Jesus Christ into a mere man who was just a teacher with some good sounding ideals to offer, instead of the Holy beloved Son of God.

These teachers, people like Bishop John Shelby Spong, Karen Armstrong, and others, are the new breed of alleged Christian determined to remake Christianity and make it more suitable for the non-religious. These were discussed within the bible. Don’t fall for their lies.

“Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves.
– Matthew 7:15

I know that after I leave, savage wolves will come in among you and will not spare the flock. – Acts 20:29

A Hostile World

Anger

Anger (Photo credit: ZORIN DENU)

30 And as for us, why do we endanger ourselves every hour? 31 I face death every day —yes, just as surely as I boast about you in Christ Jesus our Lord. -1 Corinthians 15: 30-31

58 Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. – 1 Corinthians 15: 58

In my internet travels, I read many different writings. Much of what I’m exposed to is written upon singles dating sites, blogs, and forums, or popular political & religious forums; I read a host of writings from many places. I believe I’m encountering an interesting slice of humanity from all walks of life, and a variety of ages doing the writing. Unfortunately, there is something I’ve noticed increasing over time in the last probably five to seven years. It seems to be growing in fervor with every passing day, no matter where I wind up reading, including even here at WordPress.com.

People seem angry. They are angry at God. And not just some murky concept of God, but of the god of the Holy Bible.. THAT god — The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob precisely.

These people claim they don’t even believe — this is what is really odd, yet the hostility toward what they don’t believe in is intense and tangible. It’s sincerely over the top.

This hostility, rage, and anger is expressed in a multitude of ways.

Religion overthrowing Heresy and Hatred I

Religion overthrowing Heresy and Hatred I (Photo credit: Nick in exsilio)

There is sarcasm and satirical mocking of God, Christian beliefs, and Christians themselves, especially “fundamentalist” Christians, or those who believe the Bible. There is outright contempt and strong dislike toward these, to the point that those expressing themselves in their raging seem to write about little else. This happens so often that one begins to take note that this overall “attitude” is growing and spreading, like a virus.

There are so many reasons given for these negative feelings. From bitching about alleged Christian hypocrisy, bigotry, and intolerance, to the slur against those “right-wing ‘fundamentalists.'”

There are an immense amount of people who are just boiling angry. These people are furious at those who dare to believe in the mystical “sky-fairy and his magical son.” And there is so much other derogatory commentary out there like this, of a similar vein, that it’s impossible to keep up with all of it. It’s like mud spattering against a white wall and dripping down, covering everything in its path with an icky darkness. It is mind-boggling to me, frankly. I admit that I find it chilling at times.

Hatred

Hatred (Photo credit: dton23)

I’ve been on the receiving end of this scathing mockery and hate; I’ve felt the piercing arrows of these blows. I was bewildered by it at first and didn’t understand. I took it personally and thought it was because I just wasn’t “good enough” as a Christian; I had to do better. For some reason, I never could get good enough though…I never could please the world, no matter how loving, how kind, or compassionate I was.

Eventually, I’ve come to realize that I’ll never be good enough to mollify a world that hates God, Jesus Christ, and the Christian believer who sincerely stands by and believes the bible. To these people, I’ll always be this ignorant, deluded, “loser” who admires and looks to a supposed “book of myths and fairy tales,” who is weak and grasping at straws or a crutch to cope and get through life. Or so they say, anyway.

Jesus knew what we would go through here on this planet.

God knew. And They warned us about it.

Do not be surprised, brethren, if the world hates you. – 1 John 3:13

18“If the world hates you, you know that it has hated Me before it hated you. 19 “If you were of the world, the world would love its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, because of this the world hates you. 20 “Remember the word that I said to you, ‘A slave is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you; if they kept My word, they will keep yours also. 21 “But all these things they will do to you for My name’s sake, because they do not know the One who sent Me. – John 15: 18-21

You will be hated by all because of My name, but it is the one who has endured to the end who will be saved. – Matthew 10:22

“Then they will deliver you to tribulation, and will kill you, and you will be hated by all nations because of My name. – Matthew 24: 9

Summer On the Horizon

Looks like my young daughter will be getting out for the summer early!  She did well, grade-wise, and has passed all the standardized testing with flying colors. Finally, her school year is coming to an end and a hot, steamy summer lies ahead. This Friday will be her last day. She’ll be getting out early about noon.

With that said, I now envision lazy days lounging by the pool watching her master swimming in the deep end. There will be lots of barbecue’s, picnics, drives to the lake, hopefully some camping, and maybe a vacation trip to the beach if I can figure out a miracle of how to swing it financially.

I love the summer time. It’s so easy to live here at our place when there is nothing really pressing that we have to take care of, short of regular, every day chores. There is more time for our pets, and no stress from school looming over me and the kiddo. It’s all about finding fun things for her and I to do and using the time to teach exemplary lessons that will stay with her forever.

We spend a lot of time in bible study and talk about God, Jesus, the Christian life, and everything and anything in between. We read a lot of books together and have long, endless conversations. We watch movies, discuss them, and have countless sleep overs with her buds, roller skating parties, swim parties, and now we’re adding some dance parties to the mix.

Anyway, this is good news. I’m so proud of my daughter that she excelled in school, is almost finished with it, and can now look forward to a most glorious summer.

Thank you for being with her, Lord Jesus! Thanks for helping her succeed.
