What a Feeling!

Flashdance... What a Feeling

For those of us who still get scared,

who aren’t one hundred percent certain of ourselves,

who sometimes lack self esteem,

who hope, pray, believe, and dream.

We can be anything that we’re meant to be,

whatever He wants us to be;

This is the best we could ever be.

God knows our hearts,

He knows the dreams beating hard inside of us;

they can happen.

…Don’t ever doubt it…

What a Feeling!

First when there’s nothing
but a slow glowing dream
that your fear seems to hide
deep inside your mind.
All alone I have cried
silent tears full of pride
in a world made of steel,
made of stone.
Well, I hear the music,
close my eyes, feel the rhythm,
wrap around, take a hold
of my heart.
What a feeling.
Bein’s believin’.
I can have it all, now I’m dancing for my life.
Take your passion
and make it happen.
Pictures come alive, you can dance right through your life.
Now I hear the music,
close my eyes, I am rhythm.
In a flash it takes hold
of my heart.
What a feeling.
Bein’s believin’.
I can have it all, now I’m dancing for my life.

Take your passion
and make it happen.
Pictures come alive, now I’m dancing through my life.
What a feeling.
Pictures come alive, you can dance right through your life
What a feeling (I can really have it all)
What a feeling (Pictures come alive when I call)
I can have it all (I can really have it all)
Have it all (Pictures come alive when I call)
(call, call, call, call, what a feeling) I can have it all
(Bein’s believin’) bein’s believin’
(Take your passion, make it happen) make it happen
(What a feeling) what a feeling… [to fade]

This is an important posting because it gives us the other side of the story from the child’s perspective. It’s a selfless witness and a powerful one.

(Daily Mail) — Nebraska’s new abortion law forced one woman  to give birth to her terminally ill, premature baby who she then helplessly held  dying in her arms.

[…]

With this heartbreaking information [that their baby would not survive] the couple decided to have an abortion to avoid the baby going through any pain.

However a new law in Nebraska, the  only one  of its kind in America, bars abortion at 20 weeks except in  specific situations  when the mother’s life is in immediate danger.

The Deavers did not qualify and were not  allowed to have an abortion.  Instead they were sent home where they had to wait  for ten days knowing  that when their baby arrived she had no chance of  surviving.

After the days of waiting Deaver gave birth  to Elizabeth and held her as she  struggled for breath and died fifteen minutes  later.

An Interview With God

“All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:18-20)

The following video is a beautiful moment with God that is created by someone who decided to share the moment with us. It’s entitled:

An Interview With God

Please watch it and allow yourself time to meditate on some of the important words shared. I truly enjoyed it and hope you do as well.

Blessings to all,

God & The Environment

“The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof.”
Psalms 24:1

And the twenty-four elders, who were seated on their thrones before God, fell on their faces and worshiped God, saying: “We give thanks to you, Lord God Almighty, the One who is and who was, because you have taken your great power and have begun to reign.  The nations were angry; and your wrath has come. The time has come for judging the dead, and for rewarding your servants the prophets and your saints and those who reverence your name, both small and great— and for destroying those who destroy the earth.” – Revelation 11: 17-18

Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them, “When you come into the land which I give you, then the land shall keep a sabbath to the LORD. Six years you shall sow your field, and six years you shall prune your vineyard, and gather in its fruit; but in the seventh year there shall be a sabbath of solemn rest for the land, a sabbath to the LORD. You shall neither sow your field nor prune your vineyard. What grows of its own accord of your harvest you shall not reap, nor gather the grapes of your untended vine, for it is a year of rest for the land.”

Raping the land

They will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain, for the earth will be full of the knowledge of the LORD as the waters cover the sea. – Isaiah 11:9

How many are your works, O Lord! In wisdom have you made them all; the earth is full of your creatures. There is the sea, vast and spacious, teeming with creatures beyond number – living things both large and small. -Psalms 104:24

Deforestation

As for you, my flock… Is it not enough for you to feed on good pasture? Must you also trample the rest of your pasture with your feet? Is it not enough for you to drink clear water? Must you also muddy the rest with your feet? -Ezekiel 34:17-18

You have lived luxuriously on the earth and led a life of wanton pleasure; you have fattened your hearts in a day of slaughter. – James 5:5

Drought in the midwest due to global warming

How long will the land lie parched and the grass in every field be withered? Because those who live in it are wicked, the animals and birds have perished. Moreover, the people are saying, “He will not see what happens to us.” – Jerimiah 12:4

“A righteous man regards the life of his animal, but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel” – Proverbs 12:10

Adam & Eve with God & other animals

Adam & Eve with God & other earthly animals

But ask the animals, and they will teach you, or the birds of the air, and they will tell you; or speak to the earth, and it will teach you, or let the fish of the sea inform you. Which of all these does not know that the hand of the LORD has done this? In his hand is the life of every creature and the breath of all mankind. – Job 12:7-10

God has instructed us to be faithful stewards of His creation. So why do we support those who want to destroy and pillage the planet? Why do we allow the earth to be raped and brutalized due to greed? The bible is clear about the position we should take when it comes to His creation. God created the beauty around us and it was good; so what are we doing to it? Why are we going along with those who hurt what we should value and be good stewards over?

God & The Poor

=-=-=-=-=
“Suppose a man comes into your meeting wearing a gold ring and fine clothes, and a poor man in shabby clothes also comes in. If you show special attention to the man wearing fine clothes and say, ‘Here’s a good seat for you,’ but say to the poor man, ‘You stand there’ or ‘Sit on the floor by my feet,’ have you not discriminated among yourselves and becomes judges with evil thoughts? Listen, my dear brothers: Has not God chosen those who are poor in the eyes of the world to be rich in faith and to inherit the kingdom He promised those who love Him? But you have insulted the poor. Is it not the rich who are exploiting you? Are they not the ones who are dragging you into court?” James 2:2-6
=-=-=-=-=

The above passages offer us a wealth of knowledge about how we’re to regard the poor. If one is poor “in the eyes of the world,” he is to be treated well; unfortunately, he is treated the opposite here in America. The poor are insulted and looked down upon. They are exploited by the rich.

“If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth.” 1 John 3:17-18
=-=-=-=-=
Here we are told to take pity on those who are in need. While we may have many material possessions, what about our brother who does not? If we do not have pity, how can the love of God be in us? We are told that it’s time to stop talking the talk and walk the walk, or in otherwords, put your money where your mouth is and help the poor. This is what is expected of us as Christians.

“Defend the cause of the weak and fatherless; maintain the rights of the poor and oppressed. Rescue the weak and needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked.” Psalm 82:3-4

Here we are specifically told to defend the weak, the fatherless, and we are to maintain the rights of the poor and oppressed. We are to rescue these people who are struggling. We are to rescue them from those who would take advantage and benefit from their suffering.

When I cast my vote in the upcoming election, I must study the attitudinal differences between the parties, among the various candidates. It’s clear that the wicked do not care about justice for the poor, the homeless, the struggling, the single mothers abandoned by their husbands, the children who through no fault of their own are living in the streets.  A ruler who doesn’t care about the poor tells us exactly what kind of ruler he is going to be. The wicked have little to no concern about the plight of the poor.

“He who oppresses the poor to increase his wealth and he who gives gifts to the rich — both come to poverty.” Proverbs 22:16

Opressing the poor in order to increase one’s wealth, or giving gifts to the rich… this isn’t something God approves of. God knows the true from the false. Spiritually-speaking, it is best to care about our fellow brother and sisters on this earth, no matter their station in life, but if we love money more than we love people, how can we be blessed by the Lord? And if we have been especially blessed, we cannot help but desire others to have similar blessing. If we support the rich on the backs of the poor, we’re going directly against the bible.

“However, there should be no poor among you, for in the land the LORD your God is giving you to possess as your inheritance, he will richly bless you.” Deuteronomy 15:4
“If there is a poor man among your brothers in any of the towns of the land that the LORD your God is giving you, do not be hardhearted or tightfisted toward your poor brother.” Deuteronomy 15:7

“Be careful not to harbor this wicked thought: The seventh year, the year for canceling debts, is near, so that you do not show ill will toward your needy brother and give him nothing. He may then appeal to the LORD against you, and you will be found guilty of sin.” Deuteronomy 15:9

“There will always be poor people in the land. Therefore I command you to be openhanded toward your brothers and toward the poor and needy in your land.” Deuteronomy 15:11
=-=-=-=-=
It’s clear that it isn’t God’s will that we overlook the poor or trust in someone else to help them. God wants something from each one of us. He wants us to be openhanded toward the poor and needy in our land.He wants us to defend them from harm. He wants us to care about them. Our attitude toward them should be one of love and mercy.

“Yet I am poor and needy; may the Lord think of me. You are my help and my deliverer; O my God, do not delay.” Psalm 40:17

Our nation must protect the poor. We are clearly told the attitude we must take with our poor brothers and sisters. Our leaders need to have this same godly attitude and concern toward the poor. If they do not, are they who should be leading us?  If there is no concern for those who do not even have housing, food, and are living like those in a third world country due to this economy, I think it’s clear that we’ve fallen short in seeing these people as God would have us see them.

Who Would Jesus Vote For? Part Two

voting day in a small town

voting day in a small town (Photo credit: Muffet)

I thought that I should offer explanation as to how I came to the conclusions I did over time. It’s as surprising to me as it is to anyone else. I was preparing to vote for the right. I’ve been leaning toward conservatism and voting Republican for awhile, primarily because most Christians do. I wasn’t pleased with the choices on either side of the aisle this election year. I was going to essentially hold my nose and just do it.

When Mitt Romney announced Paul Ryan for his Vice President, that completely swayed my thinking; frankly, I was rather stunned. I was sickened by the Ryan Plan the first time I heard about it, months ago. I knew that there were quite literally thousands who would be left in the street with children, who had been foreclosed upon, who were unemployed. We see documentaries regularly about these situations. This kind of thing is even occurring to those in the middle class, who were employed at one time.

Mitt and Ann Romney on December 22, 2007, at a...

The more I thought about the Ryan Plan and what it would do to Medicare, Social security, and Medicaid, the more I realized that voting the way I was planning to vote was wrong for me. When I heard about Romney revoking Obamacare and the millions who would be harmed by that move, I knew I could no longer vote the way I had thought I would.  Romney now says that he won’t revoke certain aspects of Obamacare, like the pre-existing condition coverage, nor will he take grown children off of their parent’s existing health coverage, but the damage was done, in my opinion.

I see something radical planned for this nation from the right. I see their priorities as they have been expressed thus far, and I’ve compared them to the priorities of the left. Because of my great love for wildlife, animals, our environment, and the most unfortunate among us, I simply know that the Romney/Ryan plan is going to seriously hurt a lot of people. Cutting many of those government programs could endanger people’s lives here in this country. I just can’t do this in the current economy; it’s wrong. I can’t agree with it as a Christian.

God has spoken to my heart that this is how I’m to vote. I can’t speak for anyone else, including my friends or for those whom I assumed I would be voting with, nor can I speak for other Christians. This is a very personal matter. I believe that God is in charge and in control overall. Things will all turn out as they are supposed to. I know we will all do what we feel we should.

I just wanted to share what I was feeling, because I know it was probably a given that I would be voting as most conservative Christians vote. I’m not a Republican, though, and I’m not a Democrat either; I’m an Independent and thus I’m open to where God leads me in every aspect of my life, including my vote. I really thank all of you for understanding and accepting me anyway because I know there are a lot of angry, furious people out here who are being critical of one another on the different sides of the aisle.

I love all of my readers and the people I’ve grown close to here at WordPress. I have cared for so many of you over these many months. I support you in whatever your decision is because it’s right for you. Never doubt that. I respect you for getting involved and being willing to cast your vote, no matter who you cast it for. And I pray that our nation will be all right and that we’ll be a strong, but very moral force among the global community for the next four years.

Who Would Jesus Vote For?

Well, I guess it’s time to tell you all what I’ve been thinking over the last month or so, politically-speaking. I watched both of the party conventions and I’m going to share with you what I observed. I’m eagerly awaiting the debates, but I think it’s important to share my overall feelings about who I’m going to vote for based on what’s been said so far and the conventions.

English: Citizens registered as an Independent...

My opinion right now is that I see very little present within the Republican platform that is Christ-like. I see a lot of talk that tries to appear godly, but there is nothing godly to back that talk up. There is little respect or love for the poor, sick, disabled, elderly, or for the poverty-stricken unemployed who are desperately struggling, along with families/children.

There appears to be a love of war and killing, or constantly engaging in war, over what is best for the citizenship of America. The desire to spend billions and billions on defense and war at the expense of starving families and American children who are living in tents appalls me. Instead of attempting to embrace all countries and show respect, we are way too quick and eager to war and kill.

There is a love of punitive capital punishment of our most mentally ill citizenry, of killing people instead of rehabilitating them, of murdering them, instead of offering forgiveness and trying to help them overcome their bad environment and/or brutal, unfortunate upbringing; in other words, there is no mercy.

There is no love for this planet; there is only raping and pillaging it for its resources in a completely self centered way. There is no caring for for the animals who reside on it, nor a desire to share it with those animals and wildlife who inhabit it. There is a consistent greediness and a determination to plunder and ravage it without conscience.

I also don’t see a love for one’s fellow Americans; I see a love for numero uno encouraged, a love for self, for thinking about me, me, me. I see all of this coming from the Republican party and I don’t see a Christ-likeness like they preach; instead I see pure selfishness.

I see negativity and little team spirit. I see phoniness. I see lies; I see hypocrisy of the worst kind, but primarily, I see a great love of money, to the point that they have made an idol out of it.

For these reasons, I find myself being more drawn to the Democratic side of the aisle this November as the choice for this American Christian. Certainly the Democrats have their flaws too, and yes, I know the Democrats are not even allegedly the religious party, but when the so-called “religious” party is not anything even close to what Christ is/was like, what can one do?

I see a lot more of Jesus Christ and what He taught within the Democratic party and platform, whether they initially left God and Jerusalem out of it or not. They may not be talking the talk, but they are most definitely walking the walk, biblically-speaking. Of course, they do have their problems with abortion, certainly, and this is deplorable. They also lack biblically in some specific areas of morality and tradition in their attempts at redefining marriage, but what they don’t lack is the true expression of the concept of LOVE.

Yes, love…that corny little word that we often toss around so carelessly.

The Democratic party is inclusive. It’s about changing the world for the better together. Everyone is invited. No one is being ousted or left behind and they appear to truly signify this brotherly love, through supporting one another and those who struggle.  They offer positivity, hope, belief, and the good feeling of sharing the journey with one another in this love, no matter the color of one’s skin, one’s culture, class, etc. Their platform and the way that they verbalize what they stand for  just feels more Christ-like to me. The way that their leaders vote is more Christ-like.

There is a love of the planet within the Democratic party, and a spirit of forgiveness and desire to help those who are mentally impaired. I see genuine love for one another as Christ witnessed to us that we should have for one another. He stated that this was as important as loving God with all of our hearts.

This being said, I hope I don’t lose any of you who are following me, who read me regularly, because of what I’m feeling.  I wasn’t going to write about this because I became worried that the friends and acquaintances I’ve made here at WordPress since I started this blog might be angry at me.  I’m pretty sure that I’m going to vote for Obama and the Democrats. Perhaps many of the conservative Christians I’ve grown to love here and respect so deeply may not like me anymore; I just don’t know. It has been worrying me, to tell you the truth.

I’ve now realized, though, that I can’t hide who I really am internally from anyone with whom I regularly share my thoughts. And I have shared some very deep thoughts with those of you who read me. I have to be able to really be me and be honest with all of you.  Anyway, I do hope you’ll stand by me even if we differ politically.  I hope you’ll continue to read me.  I respect your right to your opinions and thoughts, even if they disagree with mine, and I hope you can do the same.

May God bless our beautiful country and each one of us, and I really do appreciate those of you who have taken out time to read what I’ve put out here all these months. Thank you.

Knowing God Thru The Bible

The last several posts I’ve done in this series have been about knowing God experientially. This post is about knowing God thru His word, the holy bible. How do we know God through His word? How do we know the bible is God’s word?

We are told within the bible that the writings within are God-breathed, or inspired.

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. -2 Timothy 3:16 -17

Bearing this in mind, we can see that God is using His written word to prepare us for servant hood. By reading it carefully, and asking God to reveal it to us through His Holy Spirit, we are equipped for whatever ministry God has in mind for us.

The bible is “the mind of God.” Proverbs 4: 10 -13 tells us:

“Listen, my son, accept what I say,  and the years of your life will be many. I instruct you in the way of wisdom and lead you along straight paths. When you walk, your steps will not be hampered; when you run, you will not stumble. Hold on to instruction, do not let it go; guard it well, for it is your life.”

We should begin everyday with a reading from the bible; this way we are guided and God’s view point is declared before we step from our homes into what we must do that day. If we want the mind of Christ, we must study the mind of Christ. We do this through the word of God. Who God is, how God operates, all of this will be revealed within the pages. God wants us to know Him, His ways, and how He thinks. This is all laid out for us within the bible.

In John 17:3, Jesus tells us: “Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent..

Before we can know God, we have to know Jesus Christ. We are human beings, and thus have a sinful nature. God is holy. God cannot accept sin. God loves us so much that He arranged a way for our sins to be erased so that we too could be holy in His eyes. He allowed His son, Jesus Christ, to be crucified on the cross and pay this price for our sins. In other words, God punished Jesus instead of us. Jesus was sacrificed so that we can be forgiven. When we believe and accept what Jesus did, we begin to know God. Until we do, though, we cannot really know God. We are on the outside looking in.

Through reading the bible, we sit down with a love letter from God to us, about Him. He reveals Himself to us through the pages, and we are taught how to live this Christian life. We are given many examples through the writings of those who walked with God, who knew Jesus Christ, who lived the life of a follower of Jesus. We should study the bible because it is our textbook to a Christian lifestyle, a lifestyle that pleases God.

These are the keys to truly knowing God. Of course, our lives will involve much more, such as commitment to prayer, devotion, fellowship, and worship. But those can only follow making a decision to receive Jesus and His promises into our lives and accepting that we, on our own, cannot truly know God. Then our lives can be filled with God, and we can experience knowing Him intimately and personally.” Source

For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. -Hebrews 4:12

Now these Jews were more noble than those in Thessalonica; they received the word with all eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so. -Acts 17:11

Sister Christian

For my younger brother, Carl, who always loved this song… Somewhere along the life journey, you let go of the hand of God while I held on tightly; well, I’m still holding on and there’s still time for you to grab a hold and join us for the rest of the ride.

The masters touch

Listen to your Sister Christian…
take his hand, Carl

take His hand, Carl

Sister Christian
Oh the time has come
And you know that you’re the only one
To say O.K.
Where you going
What you looking for
You know those boys
Don’t want to play no more with you
It’s true

You’re motoring
What’s your price for flight
In finding mister right
You’ll be alright tonight

Babe you know
You’re growing up so fast
And mama’s worrying
That you won’t last
To say let’s play
Sister Christian
There’s so much in life Don’t you give it up
Before your time is due
It’s true
It’s true yeah

Motoring
What’s your price for flight
You’ve got him in your sight
And driving thru the night
Motoring
What’s your price for flight
In finding mister right
You’ll be alright tonight

Motoring
What’s your price for flight
In finding mister right
You’ll be alright tonight
(repeat)

Sister Christian
Oh the time has come
And you know that you’re the only one
To say O.K.
But you’re motoring
You’re motoring
