Christians Do NOT…..

Westboro Baptist Church at the United Nations ...

Below is my Christian response to a blog filled with hate speech. Christians do not treat other human beings like this.

(see blog HERE)

Christians do not call others ugly, hateful names; they don’t hatefully mock and judge people in an attempt to stir up trouble and hurt other people’s feelings. Nowhere in the bible do Christians call those who are not saved ugly names like “dimwit, pervert,” etc.

In the bible, Jesus referred to the religious Pharisees as hypocrites and vipers, but he did not persecute or call the unbelieving & unsaved foul names. Jesus expected more out of those who claim to follow and love God.

Jesus loved the unsaved and all sinners. He beckoned to them and offered His love and forgiveness for whatever their sins were, and then asked to them to go and sin no more …He did this WITH LOVE;  He is the same way today.

There is nothing loving about scathing judgment that cuts and wounds others abusively. Calling two older lesbian ladies “biddies” is unnecessary. Stating that homosexuals are from a loony bin and other sundry insults shows the black heart from wence the insults flow.

I am absolutely ashamed to see this kind of confusing behavior spread about all over WordPress blog world and Facebook, no less. I’m more ashamed to see it actually referred to as “Christianity. ” I’m sincerely shocked to see actual alleged Christian people approving of this kind of behavior. I cannot understand how anyone could even contemplate for a moment that this is actual Christianity in action.

IT IS NOT.

Most unbelievers know this isn’t Christianity so how can real true Christians be so deluded and confused? The unbelieving and unsaved may not believe, but they know Christianity when they see it and this isn’t it. Frankly, I know atheists who behave in more Christ-like fashion.

There is no way that anyone can defend behavior like this — it’s not biblical! It’s hate speech, plain and simple. It’s ugly. It is the opposite of love. God would never approve of this kind of Christianity. This is Christ-insanity. This is Westboro Baptist Church Christianity and it makes me sick to my stomach.

I shake the dust off of my sandals toward this kind of Christianity and will be on my way. Having already attempted loving and kind rebuke of this individual writing this nonsense in the past, there is little left to do except pray and hope that God silences this kind of horror that calls itself something it most obviously isn’t.

Hate speech is not Christianity.

Mercy

Can we try and set an example for a kinder, more loving and forgiving society?

Mercy

1a : compassion or forbearance shown especially to an offender or to one subject to one’s power; also : lenient or compassionate treatment

b : imprisonment rather than death imposed as penalty for first-degree murder

2a : a blessing that is an act of divine favor or compassion
b : a fortunate circumstance

3: compassionate treatment of those in distress

Will Jodi Arias be the fourth woman in Arizona to die via the death penalty? There has been no woman die from Capital Punishment in Arizona since the 1930’s.

There are reasonable alternatives to the death penalty.

We are a civilized society. We are capable of mercy.

Jesus was merciful. Let us take our example from Him.

2 Samuel 24:14 And David said to God, I am in a great strait: let us fall now into the hand of the LORD; for his mercies are great: and let me not fall into the hand of man.

Luke 6:36 Be you therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.

Let us vote to rehabilitate those who are obviously mentally ill and disturbed, who kill without conscience. We have to set an example for these people. We are all sinful, each and every one of us. We all deserve death, but thanks to the salvation of Jesus Christ we have found forgiveness and life.

Let us show mercy to the monsters and the twisted so that we don’t become the very thing we propose to hate.  Let’s attempt to stop the killing.

Feeding the Poor

Isn’t this interesting?

Eliminating food assistance for thirteen million Americans — how very Christian!

Jesus is watching…

Whoever gives to the poor will not want, but he who hides his eyes will get many a curse. Proverbs 28:27

And he answered them, “Whoever has two tunics is to share with him who has none, and whoever has food is to do likewise.” Luke 3:11

For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me. Matthew 25:35

Whoever oppresses a poor man insults his Maker, but he who is generous to the needy honors him.  Proverbs 14:31

She opens her hand to the poor and reaches out her hands to the needy. Proverbs 31:20

But if anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him? Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth. 1 John 3:17-18

Happy Mother’s Day!

A Handmade Mother's Day Card my daughter wrote for me :-)

A Handmade Mother’s Day Card my daughter wrote for me 🙂

I’m so lucky…

I’ve got the most beautiful daughter in the world. How did I get so blessed? Not sure what I did to get a lovely child like this, but I’m glad God chose me to be her mom.

We went out to dinner tonight at a fave restaurant of ours and then did a little shopping at Target. It was fun! Uncle Don came along too and treated us to dinner and he even shopped!

I hope all of the mothers have a lovely day and may God bless each one of you as He has so richly blessed me.

Her poem:

The Kindness of Love

Mother, Oh how beautiful you are.

Fresh and blooming like a tropical flower.

Your passion ignites me.

Makes me feel willful and free.

You shine bright like a luminous, gentle star.

Beautiful, yes you are.

Along with that gentleness comes a flame.

Brilliant, feisty, strong.

You show no shame.

You mean the world to me.

Without you how could I see..?

The beauty of life.

I love you so much, and I pray…

You’ll have a lovely Mother’s Day.

       ++++++

I love you so much with all my heart and soul.

Hope I’ve made the best Mother’s Day for you. Your loving daughter, J.

Thoughts About the Jodi Arias/Travis Alexander Debacle

No death penalty

No death penalty (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

We live in a world of terrible inconsistencies. Society is made up of double standards and illogical entreaties that are confusing and blatantly stupid. Society claims morality but is exceedingly immoral and ridiculous in its insane standards. Let’s discuss the current Jodie Arias, Travis Alexander debacle, as an example of what I’m getting at through my introduction.

We, in America, believe in the death penalty, whereby we allow government to put to death those who meet a criteria set out by a governing body we have elected.  Somehow many of us believe this is moral, logical, and not inconsistent.

The law says that we should not kill or murder, yet it is not illegal, illogical, or inconsistent to put to death the obviously criminally mentally ill and disturbed via the death penalty; somehow we make this okay within our own minds. We also allow mothers to kill their unborn babies without batting an eye — and we don’t hesitate to commit genocide upon those in other countries whom we feel meet a certain standard that allows us to annihilate them in good conscience. Somehow we expect the populace of this country to make sense of what absolutely doesn’t make sense, and of what is inconsistent to the extreme.

We may soon decide to put to death this very mentally ill woman, Jodi Arias, who lacks adequate conscience development, who is potentially a borderline personality, who has little impulse control, is suicidal, and obviously needs dire mental health intervention and has for a very long time; yet somehow she needs to recognize that she is the “bad one.” Somehow she is the evil, brutal murderer who must pay with her life, who must be “put to sleep,” so that justice will be served for the Alexander family and the victim, Travis Alexander.

We may do to her what she did to someone else, though we will be far less brutal about it; thus we will “put down” a human being like we put down our suffering and elderly animals — and this makes some kind of  convoluted sense, how? This is “justice?”

How can we as a society claim that murder and killing are bad when we turn right around and murder and kill our own people every time we decide to rationalize that it’s okay or necessary to do so? We murder the mentally ill in this country! We don’t care to rehabilitate them! Even though it would be far less expensive to offer these mentally sick people the rehabilitative help that they need, we prefer to put them to death or stack them on top of one another in brutal institutions and super prisons that hardly address their problems and needs.

Our society is so technologically advanced but we have not kept up the same pace morally; thus we still lag somewhere behind the medieval era in many ways. We are still a very uncivilized and barbaric people here in America.

We now have this latest media spectacle in Jodi Arias whom we look at like a virus on a slide, impersonally turning her personal trial into a reality television show. We analyze, re-analyze and attempt to understand why Jodi brutally murdered a young man who was taught and encouraged by us, (society), to use and treat women like whores and basically just throw them away when finished with them, like we dispose of everything we’re done with — and we wonder why she did the same in return to him. We applaud with glee like we’re at a football game her murder one conviction and claim it’s all in the name of “justice.”

We’ve taught Jodi Arias the brutality she learned through our own actions, through video games, movies, advertisement that distorts what should be valued, etc.  We’ve encouraged her lack of respect for life. Our actions, through double standards and lack of any real morality, say one thing, while our hypocritical lips say another. We have set no example for Jodi Arias as a society, or for Travis Alexander, for that matter. We should not be at all surprised what is occurring to our youth day in, day out.

Jodi, in her confusion and attempt to function among us, fights back, manipulates, lies, acts out in brutal violence and rage, and tries to make sense of living in a world that just does not make sense. She fails miserably, screws up, and now will pay with her young life for the flaws of a society that created her.

Because of society’s mixed messages and insufficient entreaties that an increasing few can navigate without psychiatric prescription, escape, or self medicating through illegal drugs and alcohol, our youth are killing themselves, us, and each other. Many of them descend into perverse distractions like pornography addiction, embracing dysfunctional and aberrant lifestyles like BDSM, and the newest kind of lust, (bloodlust), horror-core etc.,

Jodi Arias is a victim of our society, just as Travis Alexander is her victim. And we are creating more and more of her in this nation every single day. The relentless school shootings, explosion of domestic violence, child abuse, crime and violence, pedophilia, and a world that is spiraling out of control into the pits of debauchery and degeneracy are proof of our fall from grace. It is all a terribly sad statement of where we are in this life, of a tremendous need for a savior, (Jesus Christ), and unfathomable mercy from our Creator, God.  I pray to God that we will all wake up soon.

For He is With Me

ImageFear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. Isaiah 41:10

It is the LORD who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed. Deuteronomy 31:8

Sometimes unexpected things happen out of nowhere. This can be rather disconcerting. I have experienced anxiety or nervousness initially.

I could panic, I suppose, but my reaction isn’t to give into anxiety and fear. Inwardly something calms my heart, (the Holy Spirit), and I pause. I breathe in deeply and exhale slowly. I remember who I am.

I am a child of the Most High God. God promises He will never leave me or forsake me. I know He is in control, no matter how high the waves get or the storms swirl. I know He is with me.

It really doesn’t matter what the trouble is! I know that when I awaken, I am expected to do the next right thing and trust Him. I turn my thoughts outward, toward helping another. I  relax in the assurance that everything will work out for my good, no matter how things might appear to the contrary.

Money problems? There will be a way to get through; God will create one.

People problems? God works miracles for our good and the good of others, despite how things may appear. God will direct my life so that everything works out as He desires it to.

Someone I love is ill? Am I frightened I will be left alone? No, for I am never alone because God is always with me, strengthening me and holding me up. He will care for those who love Him and be with them just as He is with me.

Smoothies

Low-Fat Strawberry-Banana Yogurt Smoothie 1 cu...

I have been a real little homebody of late.

I hear a familiar cry from the teen daughter daily and it sounds like this:

“Mom, you are going to make some more smoothies today, aren’t you? Can I have the blueberry or the strawberry?”

I just smile and nod and get up to make another batch of fresh fruit  whipped up in the blender, served cold in a dinner glass.

Happy that I’m getting my child to drink her three servings of fruit a day, I’m also enjoying these delicious spring/summer concoctions myself.

I’m also plying Uncle Don with them on a fairly regular basis so we can be sure he’s getting his fruit too. I haven’t seen him complaining about it yet. Who would? lol.

There are so many different kinds of fruit smoothies one can create. There is the tangerine smoothie, banana, blueberry, blackberry, kiwi, mango, strawberry, watermelon, dew melon, and even cantaloupe for you fiber lovers.

Now, just how is this a “spiritual” topic, I’m sure some are wondering….  Well, I have an answer for that.

19 Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies. —1 Corinthians 6:19-20

God wants us to take care of ourselves. He prefers that we eat healthy and strive for balance in all things. If we’re overweight, we need to work on this to the best of our abilities by a healthy lifestyle and reasonable daily exercise. We will feel our best when we make the effort to take care of our bodies, hearts, and minds. It is spiritually correct to do so.

The Shape of My Heart

The Shape of My Heart

(Sting)

He deals the cards as a meditation
And those he plays never suspect
He doesn’t play for the money he wins
He don’t play for respect

He deals the cards to find the answer
The sacred geometry of chance
The hidden law of a probable outcome
The numbers lead a dance

I know that the spades are the swords of a soldier
I know that the clubs are weapons of war
I know that diamonds mean money for this art
But that’s not the shape of my heart

He may play the jack of diamonds
He may lay the queen of spades
He may conceal a king in his hand
While the memory of it fades

I know that the spades are the swords of a soldier
I know that the clubs are weapons of war
I know that diamonds mean money for this art
But that’s not the shape of my heart

And if I told you that I loved you
You’d maybe think there’s something wrong
I’m not a man of too many faces
The mask I wear is one

Those who speak know nothing
And find out to their cost
Like those who curse their luck in too many places
And those who fear are lost

I know that the spades are the swords of a soldier
I know that the clubs are weapons of war
I know that diamonds mean money for this art
But that’s not the shape of my heart

Sleeping With God

One of the things I love remembering is the way I feel right before I’m about to drift off to sleep. There is a peaceful, completely relaxed feeling of being held in God’s arms or hands —  as if I’m being enveloped by the presence of God — of being safe and blissfully about to leave the current reality for something else that is very far away.

As I’m gently, slowly falling into that abyss, I’m conscious of God being there, of being loved, of a feeling of being full and contented. There’s no other feeling like this, physically, spiritually, emotionally. It’s a heavenly feeling and must be just a modicum of what Heaven is actually like.  Do you ever feel Him with you in this way? Isn’t it wondrous?
