Two Brothers

Two Brothers

As you can see, these are two brothers that my teen daughter and I rescued before it became really cold. They’ve grown enough now that we’re about to get them neutered, shots, and prepare them to go to their new forever home.  We’ve been fostering them, but it’s time for someone else to step up and become their new benefactor. Hear that, Lord? I sure hope you’re listening.

Anyway, could it be you, one of my reader(s)?

Little Grey

These brothers live together with me here in San Antonio, TX. They are young, of course, probably about five months old now. We want them to stay together if at all possible, because they’ve been together since birth; they love each other a lot.

Mister Whiskers

We’ve had the brothers on my facebook and my daughter’s facebook but so far no takers. If you’re interested in giving Mister Whiskers and Little Grey a forever home, write to me at biblewarrioress@aol.com and let’s chat about it. I’ve been praying for the right person or people to adopt them so I do hope that God brings someone along soon.

Thanks for reading. 🙂

Envy & Wanting to Please God

I wonder if anyone else has a tendency to compare their relationship with God to other people’s relationship with God..or rather to compare their Christianity to someone else’s.

Do you ever do this?  I know I do.  And I just hate this about myself.

It’s like a competitive thing or something.  Inwardly it’s an “Am I doing this as right as they appear to be?”  kind of thing. And then the one that never fails, “I’m sure I’m not good enough and God must think I suck at this compared to him/her; he or she is doing this so much better than I am.”

This has to be Satan bombarding my mind with lies when these kind of thoughts are happening to me. Usually I’ll call him on it and tell him to back right off.  See…inside my heart, I know God treasures me and that He’s very pleased with my walk and spiritual growth thus far. I don’t think He cares too much for me comparing my spiritual journey to someone else’s though and feeling that I come up short; this is an insecurity within me that I just hate, that I’m impatient with myself about.

Certainly it’s good to measure our walk up against those whom we admire and look up to for the purpose of improving our walk with Christ; this is how we learn and grow, but I’m writing about something else entirely. I’m writing about a kind of beating ourselves up, of envying someone else and thinking we’re not good enough to please God — that they please Him more than we do.

God doesn’t like it when I allow negativity to impact my experience with Him. How God is able to love each one of us so perfectly and exactly enough is beyond me, but He can, will, and does. We please Him when we open up to Him and admit that we need Him. When we repent our sins, God sees our heart.  He sees everything we hide from the world.  He can love us the way He does because He knows the real us that we show to so few. God knows the deep flaws and imperfections within us.  He knows how well we’re really doing at this Christianity thing. We don’t have to impress God. We really are good enough.

I think God accepts each one of us unconditionally, even when we are screwing things up and failing utterly; still, it must sadden Him when we actually can do better and we aren’t doing better for whatever the reason. We always have another opportunity to try, though. God is not too harsh a judge.

When I see Christian men or women who seem to have it all in their Christian life, who seem to know so much and walk so close  with God & Jesus, who appear to be perfect, (or so it seems), I’ve envied them; I’ve wanted whatever it is that they have with God, to a degree. Thankfully, this is a fleeting emotion an infrequent occurrence for me.

God’s Holy Spirit will usually speak to my heart fairly quickly when I’m being insecure and assure me that while what He and I have may be different, it is just as profound as His relationship with anyone else and it is exactly just right for me.  I settle down when I feel God’s reassurance and His still, strong voice inside my mind.  I snuggle into Him and feel safe and right again.

Remind Me Who I Am

“Remind Me Who I Am”

When I lose my way,
And I forget my name,
Remind me who I am.
In the mirror all I see,
Is who I don’t wanna be,
Remind me who I am.
In the loneliest places,
When I can’t remember what grace is.

Tell me once again who I am to You,
Who I am to You.
Tell me lest I forget who I am to You,
That I belong to You.
To You.

When my heart is like a stone,
And I’m running far from home,
Remind me who I am.
When I can’t receive Your love,
Afraid I’ll never be enough,
Remind me who I am.
If I’m Your beloved,
Can You help me believe it.

Tell me once again who I am to You,
Who I am to You, whoa.
Tell me lest I forget who I am to You.
That I belong to You.
To You.

I’m the one you love,
I’m the one you love,
That will be enough,
I’m the one you love.

Tell me once again who I am to You.
Who I am to You.
Tell me lest I forget who I am to You,
That I belong to You, oh.

Tell me once again who I am to You.
Who I am to You.
Tell me lest I forget who I am to You,
That I belong to You.
To You.

Faith Without Works IS Dead

When a servant of the Lord declares that it doesn’t matter if we have enough to eat or drink, or that it shouldn’t matter if we didn’t get our government check or we couldn’t pay our bills, I have to wonder if he has ever been hungry or cold in his life. Has he ever lived in a tent under the highway because he couldn’t find work? I doubt it.

When this same servant claims that if we give the poor blankets, shelter, or food, we give them nothing and that all that matters is giving them the gospel, I’m quickly reminded of what the bible says about this very thing!

14-17 Dear friends, do you think you’ll get anywhere in this if you learn all the right words but never do anything? Does merely talking about faith indicate that a person really has it? For instance, you come upon an old friend dressed in rags and half-starved and say, “Good morning, friend! Be clothed in Christ! Be filled with the Holy Spirit!” and walk off without providing so much as a coat or a cup of soup—where does that get you? Isn’t it obvious that God-talk without God-acts is outrageous nonsense?

18 I can already hear one of you agreeing by saying, “Sounds good. You take care of the faith department, I’ll handle the works department.”  Not so fast. You can no more show me your works apart from your faith than I can show you my faith apart from my works. Faith and works, works and faith, fit together hand in glove.

19-20 Do I hear you professing to believe in the one and only God, but then observe you complacently sitting back as if you had done something wonderful? That’s just great. Demons do that, but what good does it do them? Use your heads! Do you suppose for a minute that you can cut faith and works in two and not end up with a corpse on your hands? –(The Message) James 2:14-26

14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, 16 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit? 17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. 19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. 20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? KJV James 2:14-26

When we offer a label to describe caring for those who have nothing, and refer to this as “the social gospel,” this is baloney;  this is a way of denying the second most important commandment Christ ever gave us, “love thy neighbor as thy self!”

The fact remains that when one only offers the gospel but allows people to starve or go without shelter and clothing, one offers faith without works — or dead faith. The political party that kills every bill designed to help the poor, oppresses the poor and the working poor.  This party is full of dead faith — nothing can change the facts of that matter.

As Christians we cannot defend the indefensible and we should not try to; to attempt to do this is hypocrisy. Satan cheers when we twist and bend the truth of what the bible says. Christians must realize that they must fill the bellies of those whom they would bring the gospel to. To do otherwise is dead Christianity, it is faith without works.

The bible tells us not to oppress the poor and not to support those who oppress the poor.

“Whoever oppresses a poor man insults his Maker, but he who is generous to the needy honors him.” — Proverbs 14:31

God says He will judge those who oppress the poor (Deut 27:19,Prov. 17:521:1322:1628:27Isaiah 10:1-4Eze 18:12-1316:49).  Source

Rewriting The Holy Bible

I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book:

If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book. And if anyone takes words away from this book of prophecy, God will take away from him his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book.  –Revelation 22:18-19

This is a serious warning, most would agree. You can take the time to study what various scholars think about this warning by having a look here.

John, the writer of this warning, makes it clear that tampering with the bible isn’t recommended. If you’ve read the prior posting on this blog, before this one, you’ll see that it offers details about the Conservative Bible Project,  which is essentially a rewrite of the entire bible from the conservative perspective. The attempt at this is aimed at removing what is considered a “liberal bias” within the word of God.

This project was not completed, thankfully; still enough of it was completed that the entire New Testament was rewritten as well as much of the Old Testament. Yes, this is scandalous and horrific, and difficult to believe. I hadn’t been aware of this until I stumbled across Padre Steve’s take on the matter.

I believe we’re told frequently that false prophets and teachers will appear in the last days, and that trickery and attempts at deluding the followers of Christ will be many; I think this is clearly  yet another one of these.  I think it’s important to pay attention to whom this trickery is emanating from… the conservative religious right are attempting to nullify the message of the gospel because of its “socialistic, liberal bent.” (Heaven forbid (eyeroll) ).

We can’t have Jesus sounding as if He were in favor of socialism, now can we? The very fact that the words of Jesus Christ cannot be misconstrued as having a very liberal twist is the unmistakable irony for Republicans and Conservatives alike. It appears it is easier to deny Christ’s own words and maul & maim the bible rather than admit to the truth and change one’s behavior to that which more resembles Jesus Christ.

We are watching some very dangerous practices eek their way out right in front of our very eyes, brothers and sisters, and they are coming from those who claim to be Christian. They are coming from similar kinds of believers who say that President Obama is the antichrist and that voting for a liberal will see you in hell.

My advice is this:

Don’t get too closely attached to any political label or position wherein you find yourself identifying more as a Republican/Conservative instead of as a CHRISTIAN (which really should make you INDEPENDENT of these political positions if you’re wise, imo). You can find yourself deluded and tricked by the very people in whom you upheld and trusted, and that would be very sad indeed.

Let’s not minimize what has occurred here and how serious it is.  John said not to add or take away from the words within the book of Revelation, and thus potentially the words of the entire Holy Bible. He said the punishment for doing so would not be pleasant. No matter how one may try to justify it, that is exactly what was done by the Conservative Bible Project. I would not want to be in their shoes, having rewritten much of the bible from the slant of their favored politics, adding to and taking much of it away to suit them.

Gotquestions.org discusses the topic of the various translations of the bible here. There are so many translations over the years, but what these people have done is different from that.

Conservative Heresy 101: The Conservative Bible Project

Padre Steve has raised a serious, important concern. This concern should be on the minds of all Christians who love and believe the Bible. The bible is quite clear about removing and changing what is within it. The attempt at altering the very meaning and content of Jesus Christ’s words and message is a scandal. It’s disturbing, but it clearly shows that wolves in sheep’s clothing hide among God’s people and are not above altering what God said should not be altered. Thanks for sharing this with us, Padre.

Well it is the New Year and there is no way better to celebrate it than by excoriating the methods of a group of Conservatives who are busily re-writing the Bible according to “Conservative principles.”

These people are the very same people who call Pope Francis a Marxist and condemn anyone who sees the strong message of social justice that is found throughout the Bible, particularly in the Old Testament prophets and the words of Jesus in the Gospels. For these people the issue is not what the Bible says, but how they can get it to line up with their political and economic ideological goals. The Conservative Bible Project  is so bad that even wing nuts like World Net Daily’s editor in chief Joseph Farah said: “I’ve seen some incredibly stupid and misguided initiatives by ‘conservatives’ in my day, but this one takes the cake…there is nothing…

New Year With God

What does it mean to embrace and begin a new year with God?

  1. For me, it’s a place within my heart that glows with light because there is an assurance that all is well, no matter what is occurring around me. Embracing a new year with God gives me a feeling of inner peace at all times, even the bad times.
  2. It’s a commitment I’ve made yet again, that I continue to make year after year. It’s like a marriage, in a way, except that it’s ongoing and can actually last forever, unlike most things in this life. I’m secure in this commitment which is just amazing.
  3. It’s a feeling of actually belonging to someone that is akin to family relationships but different because the relationship is spiritual and stronger. It’s stronger because I know that God promises in the Bible that nothing can remove me from His love or His spiritual arms around me.
  4. There is a submissive feeling of bending my will to the will of God, whom I choose to believe knows more than I do; thus I’m happy to humble myself and submit to Him, and be led by Him in my ongoing daily life.
  5. Embracing a new year with God is challenge to learn new ways of thinking, behaving, and living out my daily life as I walk with God’s Holy Spirit every minute of every day. I am promised spiritual growth through these challenges.
  6. It’s putting into action what God has already laid out for me — HIS PLAN– within His word, the Holy Bible.
  7. It’s following a simple set of ongoing directions as a way of living life. These simple instructions tell me how I am to behave and treat everyone I encounter in my life, in person or otherwise. These simple instructions advise me on how to think, feel, believe, and how to act;  I’m promised that I can’t go wrong if I follow what God has set forth there, via the old time apostles who wrote the Bible.

2014 with Jesus!

NEW YEARS DECLARATION

I’m thrilled that I continue to choose to stay close to Jesus Christ, to declare that my life belongs to the Lord God of Abraham, Issac, and Moses. I am a beloved child of the Living God, and my Father hears me when I call out “Abba, Father.”

God continues to guide me, despite my struggles and earthly ineptitude. God allows me to proclaim my love for Him and share the truth from the Holy Bible.

Our God is a loving God, but a Holy God! Yet His mercy is such that He gave us Jesus so that we might partake of forgiveness of sins. Through our repentance, we call upon the name of the Lord, ask for forgiveness of our sins, believe, and we are saved. God will allow NOTHING to remove us from His hands.

Those of us who have committed ourselves to God are destined to have a wonderful new year because God is in charge and His will reigns. Bless the Lord our God forever more and thank Him. If you don’t know Him, now is the perfect time to find Him, meet Him, and watch Him change your life into the greatest adventure it has ever been. Write to me if I can help lead you to know this great and wonderful God. It is easy to know God if you sincerely want to know Him. If you seek Him with your whole heart, He will be found by you. His word promises this.

Jeremiah 29:13

13 And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.

The Message (MSG)

13 “When you come looking for me, you’ll find me.

“Yes, when you get serious about finding me and want it more than anything else, I’ll make sure you won’t be disappointed.”

Father, thank you for blessing and guiding my keyboard here at Life of a Female Bible Warrior! Thank you for your beautiful message of salvation and for teaching your loyal servant how to love and be loved. I know I still don’t do it perfectly, but your Holy Spirit is working with me. Thank you for showing me what’s most important in this life so that I am finally really happy, no matter what troubles come my way.

I love you, Father.

Duck Dynasty

Phil Robertson of the A&E mega-hit “Duck Dynasty” was recently interviewed in GQ magazine by writer Drew Magary in what erupted into an all too common media firestorm over his comments on behalf of Christianity and the Bible’s view toward the LGBT community.  These were his main comments about the general subject of “sin”, “Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there. Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men… Don’t be deceived. Neither the adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlers—they won’t inherit the kingdom of God. Don’t deceive yourself. It’s not right.” (http://www.gq.com/entertainment/television/201401/duck-dynasty-phil-robertson#ixzz2oVPZ4iI3)

Phil was re-quoting the apostle Paul, who wrote; “Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men…

You will feel Him. You’ll know Someone is there. God is with you.

Really.
