Scare Away the Dark

1 John 4:18

The Message (MSG)

To Love, to Be Loved

17-18 God is love. When we take up permanent residence in a life of love, we live in God and God lives in us. This way, love has the run of the house, becomes at home and mature in us, so that we’re free of worry on Judgment Day—our standing in the world is identical with Christ’s. There is no room in love for fear. Well-formed love banishes fear. Since fear is crippling, a fearful life—fear of death, fear of judgment—is one not yet fully formed in love.

Jesus Christ is LOVE

God IS love

Meet Him on His terms and find out for yourself

JJesus Christ, my sweet Lord - savior, christ, god, love, jesus

Scare Away the Dark

By Passenger

Well sing, sing at the top of your voice
And love without fear in your heart
Feel, feel like you still have a choice
If we all light up we can scare away the dark

We wish our weekdays away
Spend our weekends in bed
We drink ourselves stupid and work ourselves dead
And all because that’s what mum and dad said we should do
We should run through the forests
We should swim in the streams
We should laugh we should cry we should love we should dream
We should stare at the stars and not just at screens
You should hear what I’m saying and know what it means to

Sing at the top of your voice
And love without fear in your heart
Feel, feel like you still have a choice
If we all light up we can scare away the dark.

Yeah we wish we were happier, thinner and fitter
We wish we weren’t losers and liars and quitters
We want something more not just nasty and bitter
We want something real not just Facebook and twitter
It’s the meaning of life and it’s streamed live on YouTube
But I bet Gangnam Style would still get more views
We’re scared of drowning, of flying and shooters
But we’re all slowly dying in front of f-ing computers.

Sing at the top of your voice
And love without fear in your heart
Feel, feel like you still have a choice
If we all light up we can scare away the dark.

And oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh
Oh oh ahh

And oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh

Sing it out now

Oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh

Sing it out now

Oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh

Hearts of Ice

blue cold icy heart -

Is Your Heart Growing Cold?

Do you care for the least of these?

“Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. But he who endures to the end shall be saved.” (Matthew 24:11-13)

“Don’t be naive. There are difficult times ahead. As the end approaches, people are going to be self-absorbed, money-hungry, self-promoting, stuck-up, profane, contemptuous of parents, crude, coarse, dog-eat-dog, unbending, slanderers, impulsively wild, savage, cynical, treacherous, ruthless, bloated windbags, addicted to lust, and allergic to God. They’ll make a show of religion, but behind the scenes they’re animals. Stay clear of these people.” (2 Timothy 3: 1-5)

Stop Animal Cruelty Worldwide

“Not even a sparrow, worth only half a penny, can fall to the ground without your Father knowing it.” (Matthew 10:29)

“O Lord, You preserve both man and beast.” (Psalm 36:6)

“A righteous man regards the life of his animal.” (Proverbs 12:10)

“The Angel of the Lord said to Balaam, ‘Why have you struck your donkey these three times?'” (Numbers 22:23)

“The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, the leopard shall lie down with the goat … the cow and the bear shall feed, their young ones shall lie down together … and a little child shall lead them … They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain, for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.” (Isaiah 11:6-9)

Turning Her Over to Him

When I’m lost and alone, worrying myself silly, doing everything I can, it’s hard to reach out to anyone; I tend to go inside of myself and hibernate like a recluse.

I peek out of the cave occasionally until I remember that I’ve done all I can do about this situation. I can’t control what happens next. It’s time to let go and let God.

My baby, my teen daughter, is in her own version of hell on earth, I guess. This bipolar nightmare she is living through has descended upon us once again and she’s in the hospital. They are changing her meds again and I hope the change helps and brings her out of this. I know God is with my child, but I hurt.

God loves our children deeply and if they’ve ever turned to Him in their lives, I have to believe that He is seriously paying attention when they get into trouble.

As her mother, I’m turning my beautiful teen daughter over to God, to His holy care and love, to bring her through this tough time she’s been enduring:  we’ve all been enduring it…those who love her, I mean. We’re all in prayer for her.  I trust God as I always have to have her back. I know He’s got this. Now I must just trust in that fact and stand strong in faith.

Father, thank you for loving Jessa and holding her in your arms. I don’t see through to the end of this road, but I know you’re in charge of our family. We in this household choose to serve you, Heavenly Father. Please bless Jessa and keep her exactly where you want her to be. I trust that you’ve got her well being in your hands through the doctors and staff at the hospital. Help me to rest in you and not to stress. Love you, God. In Jesus’ name. Adrienne.

The Same Sun

For Donald and Jessa, tonight

“The Same Sun” by Chris De Burgh

I cannot sleep tonight, I have you on my mind,
Even the wind is calling your name,
Though you are far away, I feel that you are near,
Whispering words from over the sea,
And if you wake in your night,remember that I will be here;

And like the same sun, that’s rising on the valley with the dawn,
I will walk with your shadow and keep you warm,
And like the same moon, that’s shining through my window here tonight,
I will watch in your darkness, and bring you safely to the morning light.

Where there is love like this, forever, for all time,
I will be there, wherever you lie,
And where there are hearts that live together in one soul,
Nothing on earth will keep us apart,
And if you’re crying inside, remember that I will be here;

And like the same sun that’s rising on the valley with the dawn,
I will walk with your shadow and keep you warm,
And like the same moon that’s shining through my window here tonight,
I will watch in your darkness, and bring you safely to the morning light;
I Love you, I love you, I love you;

And if you’re crying inside, remember that I will be here;

And like the same sun, that’s rising on the valley with the dawn,
I will walk with your shadow and keep you warm,
And like the same moon that’s shining through my window here tonight,
I will watch in your darkness and bring you safely to the morning light;

Same sun, same moon,
Same sun, same moon,
Same soul, same heart,
Same World, same stars – you will be forever in my world;

Same sun, same moon,
Same sun, same moon,
Same soul, same heart, oh, I love you I love you I love you,
Same world, same stars – you will be forever in my heart.

A New Creature

angry people

People who are consistently angry and negative as Christians have not been able to let go of the cares of this world and fully experience the free gift of salvation. People consumed with angst, upset, discouragement, and unease have no peace. Losing our perspective by focusing upon worldly concerns means we need to reassess what we are prioritizing  in our lives.

When we fully understand and accept the gift we’ve been given by God, we exhibit our salvation through many, many different ways. One of the ways we show we are saved is through our behavior. How we present ourselves and come across to others matters. When we become saved, we become a new person! We now represent Jesus Christ! We are a new creature in Christ.

1 Corinthians 5:17 — Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Gal 5:22-23 — The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.

John 13:35 (NIV) “By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

James 1:19-20  —  My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires.

Deana Nall tells us that Christians these days are so angry about so many things:

◆ We are angry that prayer has been taken out of schools.

◆ We are angry about gay people having rights.

◆ We are angry about abortion.

◆ We are angry because this country isn’t what we think the Founding Fathers envisioned.

◆ We are angry that a Democrat is in the White House.

◆ We are angry about evolution.

◆ We are angry about feminism.

◆ We are angry at Muslims.

◆ We are angry that people have guns, and we are angry that someone might take guns away.

◆ We are angry with people on government assistance.

◆ We are angry about environmental issues.

◆ We are angry at the Boy Scouts.

◆ We are angry at the Girl Scouts.

◆ We used to get angry about the divorce rate, but we’ve kind of given up on that.

◆We are angry about things that aren’t even happening, such as the Pledge of Allegiance being banned in public schools.

This is not the way to be Jesus to the world.

The Spiritual Life

When we become believers in Jesus Christ through the salvation experience discussed within the bible, things in our lives change; we begin to live a spiritual life. If this is not happening, we may begin to die spiritually.

What does a spiritual life look like? The bible tells us ways to live our lives which are most productive for us as Christians. When the kind of spiritual life that God wants us to experience is not being lived, we begin to starve spiritually.  We can spiritually die or go dry if we aren’t careful. We need daily feeding from the bible to flourish and grow spiritually. Our lives will line up with what the Bible tells us a Christian’s life will look like.

Rebuke & Correction

This is an excellent little discussion that clarifies the authority necessary to rebuke and correct other Christian believers. I wish we could share this video with every Christian who claims Jesus Christ and make them watch it.

The lady in the video is obviously informed as she discusses “the critical spirit” of some believers, and the way that they accuse, accost, and harass others.

As believers, we are not to rebuke or correct other believers whom we have no authority over. The Word does not command anyone to rebuke or correct those who are not under their authority. Our church leaders who are led by the spirit of the Lord, who display the fruits of the spirit, may be people we desire to submit to and we may want to learn from such an authority. We may want to accept rebuke and correction from those in authority over us.

Unfortunately, there are those who think they can dictate to and boss others, demand, rebuke, correct, and issue forth fruits of manipulation, intimidation, accusation, negativity, etc.; these are fruits of a critical spirit not a godly spirit. These are not the fruits of the Holy Spirit of God.

Pay these people no mind.

Here’s Some Truth For Ya!

“I wonder how off base I am with this? I hope I am dead wrong!

You say Obama care has literally saved your bacon. Surely you would never offend God by broadcasting an out right lie? Surely you believe it is always right to tell the truth and always wrong to lie.

Is all your health care free as I suspect? If that is so it has nothing to do with Obama care. That is called welfare.

Why would I suspect such a thing out of you?

1. Every news outlet has failed to find people such as you.

2. An agency was hired by the Government to find such people and to create ads to be put on TV and thus sell Obama care to the rest of the country and so far have come up blank.

3. The State of Oregon has failed to sign up one single person.

4. Those in other States have only signed up because it is the law.

5. It is well reported by all news outlets, even CNN, that the cost of policies have gone up, not down. That does not even count the thousands upon thousands of policies that have been out right canceled.

Spreading things that are false, helps no one. As a professed Christian, surely you would never side with giving false accounts.

Please correct me by giving some actual truthful facts.”

—————-

The above comment was a reply to my own in which I clarified that one of the reasons I like President Obama and voted for him in this most recent presidential election was because of the healthcare he has organized and put forth for our country.

I told the commenter above that I could not be more grateful because Obamacare has blessed my little family and for the first time in my life I can afford a decent healthcare plan for my teenage daughter and I.  I’m a single mother and have recently had to take on this expense because my former husband died before Christmas, thus my child’s father was unable to continue keeping her on his excellent Blue Cross Blue Shield policy. He was paying about $1200 dollars a month for the two of them for that policy too.

My child is diagnosed with Bipolar II and requires thousands of dollars of psychiatric medications every month to keep her stable. Thanks to the new Obamacare healthcare plan with Humana that I purchased from Healthcare.gov, these medicines are ten dollars a piece, and some are even less. My own medications are covered as well and sell for similar prices.

Our copays are nominal with the new plan. And there was no deductible! We selected an HMO plan by Humana that has been a lifesaver. We chose a primary care doctor a mile down the road from our home and he’s just excellent. We can also go to any urgent care of our choice for fifty dollars if we need to, and a referral to a specialist is just $35. I feel very blessed by this plan and I’m thankful that the plan is affordable at only $183 a month and it covers both my daughter and I for everything including allowing us to go to the Methodist Hospitals, which are some of the best in San Antonio, Texas.

Why wouldn’t I be grateful? Why wouldn’t I vote for a president who actually cares about people like myself who could never afford our own health insurance before? Why is this so difficult for many in this country to grasp?

There is a plan afoot by conservatives to pull out all the stops to make it look like the Affordable Care Act is a failure and that there are few to none good stories to report about it, like mine; well this is just a pure lie. It’s something I expect to hear from the kind of dishonest reporting occurring every single day on Fox News Network. Elections are around the corner at the end of the year and so of course Republicans want to make our left-leaning government leaders look bad; they want your vote! They also want to be able to close the government down a few more times so that they can cost American taxpayers many more millions than they did the last time they closed it a few months ago.

In response to the above comment, I just wanted to go on record again, one more time, telling the truth about the Affordable Care Act and what it’s done for me and my family.

And to answer the commenter above again, no, my family doesn’t get food stamps. We aren’t on welfare! I’m self-employed as a landlord with my own “housing services” business. I care for the elderly and disabled in a little bed and breakfast I run here on my property and God has blessed this business of mine abundantly and continues to. God has blessed our family by putting President Obama in charge of this nation, for the time being. He is someone who cares about the working poor & middle class. He wants us to have healthcare and be able to survive in a country that provides help for those who struggle.

I’ve seen none of this from the other alleged “Christian” side of the aisle; in fact, I’ve seen the opposite. President Obama has showed real Christianity in action through Christ-like concern and care for the struggling, for single moms and fatherless children, widows, and minorities who have had a hard time. President Obama should be praised not disrespected, lied about, or persecuted by people who claim to love God. Slandering and lying about our wonderful president makes me angry and yes, I feel it is righteous anger. I stand up for those who care about me, who actually try and make my life better; I don’t allow people to tell lies and continuously bear false witness without confrontation.

I do hope God will bless President Obama and his family and make his remaining years as our president successful and happy. May he continue to help those who need it — because some of us are very grateful and are honestly attempting to speak out and share our truth with other Americans who have been deluded by those who want the president to fail.

Another Birthday!

screen-shot-2014-02-21-at-5-15-23-am1

Wow..these birthdays  of mine come around quick. A little too quick 😉

Anyway, I had a great time this evening. My young teen daughter and I went out for free pancakes because it was Pancake Day at the International House of Pancakes. They were serving free pancakes all day until ten o’ clock pm tonight. Gosh, those pancakes were excellent!

I could not believe the crowd that was out for the free pancakes. I swear everyone in the city descended on every IHOP at every location! I have never waited to get into an IHOP in my life. (chuckle).

There was a festive spirit in the air; I’m not sure why. It was frigid cold out, though, and a great night for hotcakes, bacon, scrambled eggs with cheese, pork sausages, french toast, and the whole array of goodies they were serving up. Everybody was in a good mood. It was a fun place to spend one’s birthday.

I want to thank God for another year of life up ahead of me here. I’m so grateful that I’m at a place in my life where I trust God to the extent that I do that I can relax through the majority of my storms and challenges. I always know that He is going to see me through.

God has been teaching me so very much. I am grateful. Talk about an education. I never would have thought I would be writing away on a blog either, especially a wordpress blog. I think a lot of wordpress blogs; they are very professional and the bloggers are all pretty fun to read and interact with.

I got some birthday greetings on my Facebook page and I’m happy about that; it’s nice when family and friends remember our birthday, right? Well, God bless all of you and God bless my beloved daughter and beautiful animals. I am already blessed tremendously. It was a very happy birthday.
