Crises

This is undoubtedly true. The fact of the matter is that everyone experiences crises, so it would be foolhardy to claim that faith protects us from them.

It should be said, though, that crises often trigger doubts, which can lead to a loss of faith.

For instance, I can understand why someone whose child suffers and dies of cancer at a young age would conclude that no loving God exists.

I think the problem becomes a problem when we conclude that God is to blame for the crises, Keith. For example, the cancer of a child, his suffering and eventual death you conclude we can lay at the feet of a non-existent God; however, what if we were to ask the question, why? Why did the child get the cancer to begin with? Isn’t it because of man’s actions upon this planet, the air, the food we eat, the horrific things we are doing to our environment that are causing all of us to get sick? How can we lay that at God’s door?

God loves us in spite of the horrors we engage in which kill people every single day on this planet. God never said He would save us from the consequences of our sick actions, but He will be with us through the storms and suffering that goes along with them. There will be no more suffering or consequences when we reach Heaven.

In crisis, the sacrifice of Christ
    becomes our positive mind-set,
and sets us on the road to healing
immediately, for our hope in Him
is healthy and good; good for us!

Hoping all is well with you and yours,
    Uncle Tree 🙂
