Dear Mr. President, (Barack Obama)
Please allow me to apologize for the terrific disrespect and negativity so often tossed your way. No matter what you do, there are people whom you cannot please.
Some of these people are actually Christians! I would have expected better from them, sir. They aren’t praying for you, like they were instructed within the bible. No, instead they bitch, whine, vent, and complain about everything you do — even going so far as to call you the “antichrist” just because they are virtually ate up with fear and anger that you won the election. They have to make you the enemy and the scapegoat for their angst, instead of just trusting God, whom they are supposed to be serving.

I always thought the office of the presidency should be respected, and even when I didn’t particularly care for a president, I always respected the office enough to give the sitting president my respect. I don’t see this happening with various religious Christians, though. I see desperate fear emanating from them instead of quiet faith in God. I see constant paranoia and an obsessive focus upon worldly events in the need to make sense of what frightens them. Why can’t they just trust God and believe He is in control? Why do they feel that they have to do something and control everything going on around us that is occurring according to God’s plan anyway?
I remember when I used to be frantic like that. Gosh, I was miserable then. I am grateful that I can just relax now, after watching my fellow brothers and sisters who don’t struggle against anything much. The Christians I really respect have a quiet, steady faith and rarely allow much to get them ruffled, and love is the primary focus they show.
What really gets me, though, and the thing I most want to apologize to you for, is when people have the audacity to say that you’re not a real Christian. And they justify this, can you believe that? They actually try and justify their hatred and fear of you. It’s ugly. It turns me off. And I don’t see Jesus Christ in their behavior. I wish that they would stop it because it makes me sick.
I do believe you love God, Mr. President; I believe God loves you too. And I don’t believe you are the antichrist, nor are you the false prophet. I think you’re really just trying to do the best you can. I hope God protects your heart, wife, and children from these haters, who claim Christianity. They are Christian, I would assume, but have lost their way — this much is certain. I pray that God will teach them as He taught me. We need to pray for them, sir.

Beautiful post. I have been working my way through the old testament and always marvel at how fickle and rude the Israelite were after being saved from slavery. Oh how they whined and complained, blamed Moses for taking them out of Egypt. We are just like them, nothing has changed after all these years.

Adrienne, I have not been reading your posts but this one was sent to me. I have been praying for this President for the last 2 years and especially now. I am not eaten up with fear he won the election albeit by doling out money; my money, your money and all who work. Whether you want me to or not I pray for you everyday that God would open your eyes and heart to HIS truth; not the world’s. It is futile to believe a person no matter who they are claiming to be a Christian when they publicly endorse homosexuality, abortion, outrageous spending and borrowing, and purposely want to change the Biblical definition of marriage. The Bible is full of references to all of these issues; the right and wrong of each one as God deems it. One cannot surmise or conclude that when a person claiming to be a Christian just happens to repeatedly speak the opposite of what the Bible explicitly teaches. Whether he claims it or not, he is not living it, expressing it or leading the country toward God; but away from him. And for all intents and purposes or opinions that is what God is looking for.
For those of us you continue to hail as “you expected more from us” well we could say the same about you. So for you to falsely tell your readers that those of us who do not meet your criteria as a Christian are not praying for this President, I invite you and them to my den each morning as I sit for hours alone with God, my Bible and pray for the President.

Question for you “W”:
If someday Mr. Obama wrote in his memoires that he had feigned a belief in God so that he could help people, because he understood that in America it is a very effective rhetoric but he felt that helping the poor was incredibly important and he felt the metaphor of God’s love would be useful.
Would you still say all these things you said:
(1) I believe God loves you too.
(2) I don’t believe you are the antichrist, nor are you the false prophet.\
(3) I think you’re really just trying to do the best you can.
(4) I hope God protects your heart, wife, and children from these haters, who claim Christianity.
Or would you take any of them back?
And then you end on:
“I pray that God will teach them as He taught me.”
But see, those folks who claim Obama is the anti-Christ or those that say he is the devil’s tool because he supports abortion, or those say he is ungodly because he supports gays — they all feel “God is teaching them” — like you, they take their beliefs, cover them in God talk to show how important their thoughts are and how special their insights since GOD is their personal teacher.
Seriously, we will get nowhere as long as people keep claiming to be special privy students of the creator of the universe and have divine information. Seriously, is it not clear that Muslims, conservative Chrisitans, Mormons, Hindus claim to understand God’s teachings and how to run government and make policies, then you claim the same. You will never be able to discuss stuff — because once you said, “God told me — he teaches me — so you better listen” then the conversation stops. Hasn’t it become obvious to you yet that this is exactly why “God talks to me” rhetoric developed — to shut up your opponents. And you all keep doing it without seeing the irony.

I don’t know about Warrioress, Sabio, but I know what my answer to that would be:
(1) Yes, I’d still say that God loves him. Because it’s true. God is love and it’s His desire that none perish.
(2) Just because Obama’s policies are questionable doesn’t make him the antichrist. The Bible tells us how we will recognize the antichrist and, so far, Obama doesn’t even begin to fit the bill. Christians have tried to claim that every Democratic president is a possible antichrist. They did it with Clinton and Carter. Perhaps they should go *read their Bibles* and stop with ridiculous wild conjectures. Even if Obama threw all the rich people in jail and turned the U.S. into a communist nation, it still wouldn’t make him the antichrist…or the false prophet.
(3) This is a subjective opinion. There’s almost no way to prove it true or false. It’s very likely that Obama is sincerely doing what he thinks is best for our country. George W. Bush claimed that he was just doing the best he could do with his presidency. Still claims that, in fact. And it led to two wars, strained foreign relations, and thousands of displaced citizens (Katrina).
(4) Yep, I’d still pray for his protection, too. Warrioress’ whole point is that the Bible commands us to *pray for our leaders* whether we agree with them or not. Sure, as Christians, we can protest policies that go against God’s rule, but that’s not our calling. “By this, all men will know that you’re my disciples, if you love one another” (John 13:35). She’s not asking that he be spared justice for crimes; she’s asking that he be spared hateful, unwarranted attacks on his person. And since his children are totally innocent in all of this and have zero bearing on their father’s decisions, why should they not be protected??
Seriously, this stuff about Obama has gotten ridiculous. I had a friend raving on her Facebook page the other day about how Obama made her student loan rate go up. I’m like, “Dear, you have a variable interest rate loan. It goes up depending on the market.” Instead of pointing out legitimate concerns, his critics make up stupid stories to discredit him and later wonder why people look at them cross-eyed.

Cathy, based upon your posts regarding the president, I think it’s more “sour grapes” than fear with you. I don’t get a feeling that you’re afraid of much. You don’t like this president, don’t trust him, and have your mind set against him, no matter what good he tries to do as president. I don’t believe we would see the same kinds of postings coming from you were Mitt Romney in office instead of President Obama.
You’re a die-hard conservative Republican and as Sabio suggests, you see your perspective and politics as the only accurate view.
Thanks for praying for me. God *is* opening up my eyes and heart to His truth; I’m just sorry you don’t care for His truth. I’m pretty careful to base my postings on scripture and last I knew, scripture is still valid. Perhaps our interpretations don’t agree with one another. I won’t argue about whose is correct because that’s pointless due to our differences in politics.
I’m not a Republican or a Democrat. I’m someone who sees issues with both parties and prefer to try to follow the example that Jesus Christ gave via His life and His preaching when He walked this earth in human form but was still divine.

I agree with you that he is attempting to support the redefinition of marriage and I disagree with redefining marriage myself, but I don’t believe that this stance makes the president “not a Christian.”
Many presidents, not just Obama, have engaged in outrageous spending and borrowing, including “W.” President Obama has compassion for the poor, elderly, infirmed, disabled, and unemployed who are not able to find work despite desperately looking. He is not going to turn his back on these people and see the budget balanced on their backs. I agree with his take on the matter and feel that this is bible-based. In fact, Jesus Christ would be very proud of this president in that area.

Sorry I cant respect a president who disses our country. Leads it towards socialism and disrespects our military and people that disagree with him. He is vindictive and plays dirty Chicago politics. Get over yourself and open your eyes. Hes not the antichrist just a person that grew up hating our country and its obvious hes trying to take it down.
